consciousness of your human “self.” In this context, your self

consists of your mind, your emotions, and your !esh – all the

worldly aspects of your being.

By Divine Order, your biological body is your sovereign

kingdom. Your brain (with its thoughts and ideas), your

heart (with its feelings and emotions), and all the cells in

your body are your bounden subjects. Because The
Higher Power endowed you with absolute responsibility for

self, your duty is to govern every idea, expression, and

action in your life. However, if you struggle to

recover from addiction, you know that your desires
dominate your thoughts, words, and deeds. This is

because the Spiritual You will not take control of the self.

Self-control is a measure of spiritual awakening, which

can be determined by a person’s ability to follow guidance
from the Higher Power. But, all too often, addicted

individuals just dismiss spiritual guidance and

shamelessly surrender to the desires of the flesh.
